PRP for Hair Loss

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a medical procedure in which the patient's own blood is used to enhance healing and reduce inflammation in wounded tissues. A small amount of the patient's blood is collected and centrifuged to concentrate the platelets and growth factors in order to make PRP. The resulting platelet- and growth factor-rich solution is then injected back into the patient's wounded or damaged tissues, such as tendons, ligaments, muscles, or joints. Concentrated platelets provide growth factors that promote healing, enhance blood flow, and decrease inflammation. PRP therapy has been utilized to treat illnesses such as osteoarthritis, tendinitis, and sports injuries.  It is considered a safe and effective alternative to more invasive treatments, such as surgery or steroid injections.

PRP Therapy works for Hair Loss

PRP therapy for hair loss is a straightforward procedure that can be performed in a doctor's office. A little amount of blood is extracted from the patient's arm and placed in a centrifuge during the process. The platelet-rich plasma is collected in a syringe after the blood is separated into its constituent parts by centrifugation. This plasma is then injected into the patient's scalp, specifically targeting areas of hair thinning or baldness. The growth factors in the plasma work to encourage hair growth and improve the condition of existing hair once injected. The technique is minimally invasive and quite painless, with little to no downtime.

PRP therapy can stimulate spontaneous healing in the body, increasing cell and tissue regeneration. This is especially important for people who have injuries, chronic pain, or other diseases that impair the body's ability to repair itself.
